At least 12 people have been killed during floods in Iraq following heavy rains. The governor of Erbil province, Omed Khoshnav, said on Sunday that at least 15 areas had been affected by the floods. The floods damaged 2,509 homes and destroyed 876, officials said.
The floods have damaged physical structures worth over 20 million. Authorities said that fertile land, roads, and sewers were also damaged and services were disrupted. Heavy rains lashed the Kurdish region of the country, including Irbil, last Thursday and Friday. The site is 375 kilometers from the capital, Baghdad.
