Names of 143 doctors registered in Nepal Medical Council have been removed.
The council is updating the doctor's data with the aim of registering the names, addresses, and qualifications of doctors registered in Nepal and removing the names of those who have passed away.
The council has also published the names of doctors whose names have been removed on its website. The registrar of the council, Dr. Krishna Prasad Adhikari informed that the additional process is going on continuously.
According to the latest data of the council, the number of doctors of graduate level (MBBS and BDS) has reached 32 thousand 218. The number of those who have completed the postgraduate level (specialist doctors) is 10 thousand 80.
According to Section 13 of the Medical Council Act, the name, address and qualification of the registered doctor should be kept in order and registered in the register book from time to time. In addition, the Act provides for the removal of the names of those who have passed away from membership and if a registered physician leaves his business or changes his address, the registrar must be notified within one month.
The council said that the registration of 318 doctors with foreign citizenship working in Nepal's medical colleges, medical science institutes and private hospitals has been maintained.
