KATHMANDU: Health and Population Minister Pradip Paudel has urged the Singha Durbar Vaidhyakhana to increase the production of ayurvedic medicines.
"There is demand for medicines produced by the Vaidhyakhana in the market; increase your productions," the Health Minister said addressing to the Vaidhyakhana employees after monitoring the medicine manufacturing situation at the Vaidhyakhana today.
He also directed the Vaidhyakhana management to seek new option by black listing the contractors not supplying the required raw materials, stating a situation has arisen in which it has become hard to find the medicines manufactured by the Vaidhyakhana in the market.
"Why aren't we producing the medicines that sell in the market? We will not allow a dearth of budget for production. But you should increase the production," the Health Minister insisted on the occasion.
When the employees complained to him about the dearth of resources, the Health Minister said that budget has been allocated to the Vaidhyakhana some time before and made it clear that capital support could be provided to the public corporations, but not the money to pay the salary.
