Forty-two per cent of people in far-western states have been vaccinated against the coronavirus. Jayendra Bogati, pharmacy supervisor inspector of the state health supply management center, said that 42 per cent people of the nine districts have been vaccinated against the coronavirus so far.
According to Bogati, 55 percent of the people above 18 years of age have received the first dose of the vaccine while only 42 percent have received both doses. Preparations are underway to introduce Moderna vaccine in seven districts and Pfizer in two other districts under the vaccination campaign in the state.
The Ministry of Health and Population has sent 211,000 doses of Moderna vaccine to Dhangadhi for six hilly districts including Kanchanpur. According to Pharmacy Supervisor Inspector, 63,346 doses have been sent to Kanchanpur, 34,328 doses for Achham and 31,639 doses for Baitadi.
He said that 25 thousand 275 doses have been sent to Doti, 24 thousand 20 doses to Bajhang, 16 thousand 843 doses to Bajura and 15 thousand 579 doses to Darchula. The vaccine sent by the federal government will reach Dhangadhi on Wednesday and will be distributed to the district from Wednesday, according to the state health supply center.
For Kailali and Dadeldhura, the federal government will send Pfizer vaccines. Both the districts are preparing to launch vaccination campaign from the second week of next December.
