Coronavirus infection is increasing day by day. With the confirmation of the Omicron variant in Nepal, the infection is increasing daily.

PCR and antigen tests have also shown an increase in the rate of infection due to the high prevalence of Omicron variants. Infections are on the rise due to the non-implementation of public health standards, overcrowding, and non-vaccination. The spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population Dr Sangeeta Mishra said that the number of infections has increased by 9.2 percent this week as compared to last week. The Omicron variant may transmit from one person to 10 people.

The first wave's variant transmitted from one person to another, and the second wave transmitted the delta virus from one person to 4/5. According to him, the PCR test of 49,877 people in the previous week showed infection in 2,030 people. Of the 62,755 people who underwent PCR this week, 8,373 were infected.

This week's infection rate is 13.3 percent. Antigen testing showed a 6.7 percent increase in infections this week compared to the previous week. Infections are 10 times more common in non-vaccinated people. Studies have shown that those who are not vaccinated will be 17 times more likely to be hospitalized and 20 times more likely to die by being hospitalized.

10,000 infected people are found in Nepal every week. The infection has been confirmed in 10,584 people from January 6 to January 12. Coronavirus infection was found in 540 people on January 6, 968 people on January 7, 944 people on January 8, 167 people on January 9, 1,446 people on January 10, 2,444 people on January 11, and 3,075 people on January 12.
