Dengue, cholera infection in all districts except Humla and Mustang

Dengue and cholera infections have upped with the onset of the rainy season in various parts of the country.

Epidemiology and Disease Control Division states that dengue infection has reached 75 districts. Dr. Gokarna Prasad Dahal, Head of the Department of Entomological Disease Branch, said that dengue infection was observed in all districts except Humla and Mustang.

In 75 districts, a total of 5,119 people have been infected with dengue disease. So far this year, three persons lost their lives due to dengue infection.

The aedesaegypti and aedesalbopictus species of mosquito enjoy clean standing water and develop larvae, which ultimately transmit dengue in adult stage.

According to the Division, 421 people in Kathmandu, 58 in Bhaktapur and 79 in Lalitpur have suffered dengue infection.

During the rains, water is accumulated and mosquitoes live in there. Once these mosquitoes bite human, they are contracted with dengue.

The Ministry of Health and Population has requested everyone to conduct 'Search and Destroy Mosquitoes' campaign every Friday in the government and non-government offices and hospital premises after the surge in dengue infection.

The government has decided to bear the cost of treating dengue patients in government hospitals.

Similarly, the Department informed that cholera patients have reached 67 across the country. Dr. Dahal shared cholera patients were found in Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Pyuthan, Makwanpur and Kailali.

According to him, cholera has been confirmed in 47 people in Lalitpur, in nine in Kathmandu, in eight in Kailali, in two in Pyuthan, and in one in Makwanpur.
