The Ministry of Health and Population has said the number of dengue infections till September of the year 2023 exceeded 38,000.
According to the data of the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, the infection has so far spread to 76 districts, with 38,059 infections. The total fatalities to date of 2023 is 20.
Division director Dr Rudra Marasini said the dengue infection continues and the risk for further rise in the infections remains.
The province-wise data shows that the highest 23,905 cases (62.08 percent) are reported in the Koshi Province while Karnali has the lowest infections rate numbering 128 cases (0.03 percent).
The Madhes Province reports 590 (1.06), Bagmati 4,883 (12.08 percent), Gandaki 6,818 (17.09 percent), Lumbini 655 (1.07 percent) and Sudurpaschim Province 1,080 (2.08 percent).
District-wise, the highest number of cases have been reported in Sunsari district (16,096 or 42.3 percent), followed by Tanahu (4,651 or 12.2 percent), Jhapa (3,581 cases or 9.4 percent), Dhading (3,130 cases or 8.2 percent), Morang (2,274 cases or 6 percent), Kaski (1,481 cases or 3.9 percent) and Kathmandu (802 cases or 2.1 percent) while the rest of the districts have reported 6,044 cases or 15.9 percent.
Among the total dengue cases, the cases had reached 13,846 in August alone. The figure was 11,580 in September and 4,790 until October 11.
Last year, 17,889 dengue cases were recorded in October, the Division stated.
