Doctors, health workers infected with COVID-19 in Chitwan

One hundred seventeen doctors and health workers of different hospitals in Chitwan district have tested positive for coronavirus.

Such number of doctors, health workers and hospital staffs were infected with the virus within a few days following the surge in the number of coronavirus cases in recent period.

Coronavirus was confirmed on 37 doctors, health workers and administrative staffs of Bharatpur Hospital. It was confirmed in course of conducting test till Monday, said Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Prof Dr Krishna Prasad Poudel.

Of them, seven are doctors, 20 health workers and other administrative staffs. Problems have surfaced in providing health services at the hospital due to the increasing number of health workers infected with coronavirus, shared Poudel.

Similarly, forty doctors and health workers of BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital have tested positive for coronavirus.

Information Officer of the Hospital, Giri Narayan Mahato said that coronavirus was confirmed on three doctors, 22 nurses, seven technicians and other administrative staffs. Some services at the Hospital have been hampered with this but the situation has not come to halt any service.

Thirty persons working at Chitwan Medical College have tested positive for COVID-19. Hospital's operations manager Paras Adhikari said 12 doctors, 14 nurses and four other staff have been infected. All those testing positive are in home-isolation.

Ten employees at the College of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (Purano Medical College) have been found infected. The Hospital said among the infected are seven doctors and three other staff. They are in home-isolation and have normal health. Most of the infected are in home-isolation.

Patients from 19 districts including Chitwan come seeking treatment at the government and private hospitals in the district.
