The District Hospital Doti has started providing free ambulance service to pregnant women.

The Hospital decided not to take any charge for ambulance service to those women visiting the hospital for delivery till the end of the current fiscal year.

Hospital Chairperson Dhan Bahadur Nepali said the ambulance service has been made free of cost if the hospital refers the patient to any hospital in the country for delivery service.

He opined, "The hospital started providing free ambulance service as a relief to the pregnant women having low income and those who are at high risk due to complicated pregnancy case."

An arrangement has been made to provide Rs 2,000 to those taking delivery services in the hospital as transportation.

Radha Chand of Badikedar rural municipality-2 said it has become easier for pregnant women of rural areas after the operation of free ambulance service.

Officiating Medical Superintendent at the Hospital, Nirajan Shrestha, said this program would benefit the women who have to be brought to the District Hospital for failing to give birth in health institutions located in the rural area.
