In Tilothma of Rupandehi, all the citizens above 12 years of age have been vaccinated against corona. All citizens of the target age of the municipality are fully vaccinated.
This is the first municipality to be fully vaccinated against corona, said Chief Administrative Officer Jeevan Gyawali. One lakh 28 thousand 530 people above 12 years of age have been vaccinated and 14 thousand 80 people between 12 and 17 years of age and 81 thousand 886 people above 18 years of age have been vaccinated. Of the target population of 95,966, more were vaccinated against corona than the target.
According to the health department, people from outside the municipality have also been vaccinated at the health facility here. The municipality has ensured vaccination against 7,077 people who were released after surveying their families. The municipality had mobilized a household survey team comprising health volunteers and officials of Toll Development Institution to identify the people who are yet to be vaccinated. After the team vaccinated the identified persons, the District Vaccination Coordinating Committee also monitored the situation on Sunday and declared Tilothma a fully vaccinated municipality, according to the Health Branch. Health Branch Chief Moti Prasad Poudel said that the exempted citizens found in the household survey were brought from the District Health Office and vaccinated.
According to him, commitment letters for full vaccination declaration and assurance have been received from all 17 ward vaccination coordination committees. The meeting of the Municipal Level Vaccination Coordination Committee had written to the secretariat of the National Vaccine Coordination Committee, the Ministry of Health, Population and Family Welfare, the Health Directorate and the District Health Office to ensure full vaccination declaration.
According to Public Health Inspector Keshav Bhattarai, a survey of households has been conducted on the basis of the same letter. People's representatives and health workers went to various settlements, communities and brick kilns to vaccinate those who missed the vaccination. Mayor Basudev Ghimire expressed his gratitude to all the health workers, health volunteers, toll development organizations, educational institutions and others who participated in the vaccination campaign.
Of the 8,838 people infected with corona in the municipality so far, 201 died. A vaccination campaign against corona was started in the municipality from January 3, 2077 BS and a temporary 60-bed corona hospital was established to save the city dwellers from the epidemic.
