A 'full vaccination program for animals' has been implemented at three local levels of Baglung district to protect livestock through vaccination and increase production by reducing the decline in livestock production due to disease.
The Veterinary Hospital and Veterinary Services Expert Center Baglung has implemented full vaccination program at three local levels in the budget of Gandaki State Government with the objective of ensuring quality livestock production by eradicating infectious diseases in animals.
According to the Veterinary Hospital and Veterinary Service Center, Baglung, the full vaccination program started from Kathekhola village municipality last year has been implemented in Baglung Municipality, Jamini Municipality and Kothekhola of the district in the current fiscal year. Out of the ten municipalities, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and dogs of Kathekhola, Baglung and Jamini municipalities have been fully vaccinated.
Keshav Prasad Sharma, a technician at the center, said that the program has been started in collaboration with the local level animal branch. According to him, the technical staff of the expert center will visit the livestock farms and cowsheds of the farmers to collect data on cows, buffaloes, goats and sheep and vaccinate them. "Animals need to be vaccinated to protect them from epidemic diseases and to protect farmers' investment in livestock and to prevent possible damage," he said.
According to Sharma, 26 veterinary technicians have been deployed in the three municipalities under the program which started on March 25. "Our aim is to increase the production of meat and dairy products by protecting the animals from diseases. The full vaccination started from Kathekhola village municipality-6 two years ago was implemented in Kathekhola village municipality last fiscal year," he said. This program will be completed. ”
According to the Veterinary Hospital and Veterinary Services Expert Center, Baglung, the program will be postponed after full vaccination for three consecutive years in the same municipality. In the current Fiscal Year, the Gandaki State Government has allocated Rs. 7 million budget has been allocated. Dr. Rishi Ram Sapkota, head of the center, said that the full vaccination program was very expensive and due to lack of technical manpower, it could not be conducted in all the municipalities at once. "More budget will be demanded next year and full vaccination program will be implemented in all the municipalities of the district," he said. This is a five-year plan of the government. "
He also said that there is a plan to add more Gemini municipalities if the budget is saved by giving full vaccination in three municipalities. According to Chief Dr Sapkota, 26 technicians in 13 groups including two animal technicians in one group have been deployed from village to village. Technicians have been deployed in six groups in Baglung Municipality, four in Tarakhola Municipality and three in Kathekhola Municipality.
There are 12,300 cows, 17,000 goats and 1,400 goats in Baglung Municipality, 4,600 cows, 8,500 goats and 200 goats in Tarakhola Municipality and 14,000 goats and 9,700 goats in Kathekhola Municipality. It is said that 1,600 dogs of the district have been vaccinated against rabies on the day.
The center said that the vaccination program would be effective in controlling the spread of animal-to-human and human-to-animal zoonotic diseases to save them from negative impact on public health and also to save time and money in treatment and control of animal diseases.
