The government has decided to provide booster doses of COVID vaccine in Nepal. The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has decided to give a booster dose to the people in the risk group even though they have been fully vaccinated considering the possible complications in the future.
However, the ministry has stated that it is not a booster dose but an additional vaccine for people with low immunity. People with moderate to severe immunodeficiency, active cancer patients, and organ transplant patients will get the additional vaccination.
In addition, people over the age of 60 who have been vaccinated with Vero Cell will also receive additional vaccines, the ministry said.
As per the notice by the ministry, for one to receive the additional dose it must be three months since the time they had received their first dose of vaccine. They have also requested all to contact the nearest health facility with the vaccination card and the date of vaccination will be announced soon.
