The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Tuesday confirmed the detection of 680 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 974,039. Additionally, 182 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the MoHP has recorded 2 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 184 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Tuesday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 11,902. Presently, there are 19,400 active cases in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley alone have recorded 209 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 170 cases, Lalitpur logged 24 cases and Bhaktapur logged 15 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As many as 1,835 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Monday, a total of 942,737 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 96.8 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.2 per cent.
As of Sunday, a total of 5,350,721 people have undergone the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 20,739 people staying in isolation while 112 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
