The delivery of Vero Cell vaccines that the country has purchased from China will be delayed. Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) which is supposed to bring the vaccines from China has delayed the flight by six days citing that necessary preparations had not been completed.
NAC had earlier prepared a schedule to fly to China from July 8 till July 22 to bring the 40 lakh doses of vaccines that the government has purchased from Sinopharm, the Chinese pharmaceutical company that manufactures the Vero Cell vaccines. As per the schedule, a wide-body aircraft of the national flag carrier had brought eight lakh doses of the vaccines on July 9.
According to the initial schedule, an aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation was supposed to fly to China today and return to Kathmandu tomorrow with another lot of the vaccines. However, the corporation did not operate any flight to bring the vaccines today.
Meanwhile, NAC has said that it has scheduled flights for July 21, 22, and 24 to bring the vaccines from China.
