The new variant of COVID-19 'Omicron' has also been found in South Korea. According to the Korean Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), the new variant of Omicron was recently spotted in a couple who arrived in South Korea from Nigeria.
The couple, who received both doses of the corona vaccine, were on a visit to Nigeria from November 14 to 23. Omicron was seen in a test conducted after they entered Korea. The South Korean government has said it is concerned about the new variant Omicron, with the WHO signaling a greater risk even for those who have completed both doses of the vaccine.
Korea has imposed an indefinite ban on air travel from South Africa, including Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lasotho, Mozambique and Malawi, with effect from Saturday. In addition, various rules have been announced to prevent the new variant from spreading in the country.
KDCA has intensified testing to find out if the Omicron variant has spread to other parts of the country. After Omicron was seen in Korea, panic has spread among Nepalis living here. Due to Omicron, the danger of bringing Nepali workers to Korea has stopped again.
