Recently, Nepal was hit by a second wave of COVID-19 outbreak with thousands of new cases and deaths daily. Hospitals were overwhelmed with lack of beds and medical supplies.
Three major donor organizations: Shanghai Jade Buddha Temple (China), Shanghai Jue Qun Cultural & Educational Foundation (China), Tan Ngak Buay and Kee Meng Lang Foundation Limited (Singapore) responded immediately and provided their tremendous help in donating oxygen concentrators and medical equipment to Nepal. Shangpa Foundation is extremely grateful to them for rendering this much-needed lives-saving support to Nepal in these hard times.
In a simple ceremony in Nepal, Shanghai Jade Buddha Temple, represented by Shangpa Foundation, handed over 500 pieces of oxygen concentrators; 5,000 disposable oxygen masks; 23,475 units of N99 and N95 surgical masks; 125,000 units of surgical and medical gloves; 2,180 goggles; 8,398 bottles of disinfectants and 1,200 PPE, amounting to NPR51.28 million (RMB 2.8 million) to the officials of four National Hospitals namely Dhulikhel Hospital; Kirtipur Hospital; Lumbini Hospital and Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Pokhara.
We also wish to thank The Embassy of Nepal in Beijing, The Honorary Consulate of Nepal in Shanghai and Dhulikhel Hospital, Kathmandu for their tireless and philanthropic logistics support. Without their indispensable assistance, the timely delivery of medical supplies would not be possible.
Shangpa Foundation was established in 2006 and has been active in humanitarian works in Nepal such as the 2015 earthquake and 2019 COVID-19 pandemic.
