There is a shortage of medicine for children under 14 years of age, said Tuberculosis Focal Person of Rapti Provincial Hospital, Tulsipur, Renu Acharya.
The problem has been seen due to a lack of supply of medicine from the Province-level. Drugs required for adult TB patients are available but there is a scarcity of the drug required for children.
Acharya said that every hospital in the district is reaching out to the provincial hospital for medicine. Currently, seven children under the age of 14 are taking the drug at the provincial hospital. In addition, 150 patients above 14 years of age have been taking anti-TB medicine.
The district has been facing a shortage of medicines for the past 15 days. Medical Superintendent for the hospital, Dr Om Aryal, said that initiatives are being taken to contact the province and centre for the supply of medicines.
