The single-dose Janssen vaccines are being administered in Kathmandu today. The Janssen vaccines, which are manufactured by American pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson, were gifted by the United States government through the COVAX facility of the United Nations.
Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population, said the Janssen vaccines will be provided to people in various parts of the country. He informed that the vaccines will be administered from today for three days.
The vaccines this time will be provided to citizens between the age of 50 and 54 years and also to people who are totally or very seriously disabled. The Health Ministry has stated that the vaccines will also be provided to refugees living in Nepal.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will be inspecting the COVID-19 vaccination centres in Kathmandu valley today. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, PM Deuba will be inspecting the vaccination centres that have been set up at Nepal Orthopaedic Hospital in Jorpati; Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj; Bir Hospital in Ratna Park; and Patan Academy of Health Sciences in Lagankhel.
