Two Lakh people to be vaccinated daily

The government of Nepal and the Ministry of Health and Population have completed preparations to vaccinate at least 2 lakh people every day.

The Government of Nepal is preparing to vaccinate 200,000 people every day against the coronavirus. The government informed that it has fully completed preparations for this. The Ministry of Health and Population has also informed that the necessary vaccines, vaccination centers, and the manpower required have already been arranged for this.

The ministry has stated that vaccinations will be given to all those who need them after a regular and steady supply of vaccines start coming from abroad. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on November 29 had decided to provide free COVID-19 vaccines to all citizens. Joint Spokesperson of the Ministry, Dr. Sameer Kumar Adhikari informed that all the necessary preparations have been completed to vaccinate 200,000 people daily.

"Even now, we are vaccinating around 200,000 people," he said. We have successfully vaccinated every person who has come to the vaccination center. No one has ever left unvaccinated.” According to him, the ministry has already instructed the concerned District Health Offices to deliver vaccines to the doorsteps of all citizens. "We have ample vaccines. Even now, regular vaccines are being supplied,” said Dr. Adhikari, "We have already instructed the district vaccination centers to conduct a vaccination campaign at the doorsteps of the people so that no one is left behind to get vaccinated."

Dr. Adhikari said that the vaccines will be administered from regular vaccination centers to make them available to the general public. He said that all the health workers, staff, and front-line workers have already been vaccinated and those who missed the vaccination will be vaccinated at a local level. According to him, 27.3 million 56 thousand 530 vaccines have been delivered to Nepal so far. 35 million additional vaccines are on the way.

So far, 18,862,216 people have been vaccinated. Out of these people, 12,048,369 have been vaccinated for the first dose and 8,613,847 people have received full doses. Out of the total population, 33.7% have been vaccinated partially and 28.4% have been fully vaccinated.

The government has set a goal of vaccinating two-thirds of the target population by mid-January and the whole target population by mid-April. The government is bringing in daily vaccines through procurement and through the Covax facility. 175,567 people were vaccinated on December 3 alone. Similarly, 196,853 people on 26 November, 115,434 on 27 November, 127,611 on 28 November, 144,534 on 29 November, 211,553 people on 30 November, 227,584 people on 1 December, and 141,557 on December 2 were vaccinated.

Kathmandu District Health Office has distributed vaccines from nine vaccination centers. According to Shambhu Kafle, chief of the office, regular vaccinations are being distributed from Birendra Sainik Hospital, Nepal Police Hospital, Armed Police Hospital, Bir Hospital, Civil Hospital, Martyrs' Memorial Hospital in Kalanki, Vayodha Hospital in Balkhu, Lhotse Bhawan of New Bus Park and Koteshwor. 2,500 people are being vaccinated daily from these locations.

Mr. Kafle said that there is no shortage of vaccines for people above 18 years of age and they can be vaccinated at any of the vaccination centers at any time. He also informed that the municipality is providing vaccines as per the requirements.
