District Coordinating Committee Kanchanpur office chief Khem Prasad Chaudhary has been detained by the committee members this afternoon.
A team of members including Sita Devi Bhandari, a member of the District Coordination Committee, said that the office chief Chaudhary was detained in the office as he was reluctant to pay the salaries and allowances of the committee officials and employees. "We have been detained for half an hour for not coordinating in the office and for neglecting the last day's salary allowance," said Member Bhandari.
Bhandari alleges that the people's representatives and employees have not received service facilities since Chaudhary appeared in the office in the second half of last December. A police team that reached the coordination committee about half an hour later broke the lock of the office chief's door. "Even the meeting of the coordination committee could not be held after Chaudhary's arrival," he said.
Similarly, Khem Prasad Chaudhary, head of the office of the coordination committee, claimed that there was a problem in the work of the staff and administration. "It was seen that the relatives were given a job and the salary was paid by showing up once a month." Chaudhary said, "Even now, I have not been informed about the number of contract members of the committee."
He said that he was taking initiative at the center to pay the salaries of the office bearers and employees. "I received a call from the authorities at the Treasury and Accounts Control Office regarding the issue of salary payment," he said. Shortly after the office chief's office was unlocked, leaders and cadres of the Nepal Students' Union locked the office of the head of the coordination committee, Phairu Tamang.
