Complaint against loan sharks in Banke

As many as 15 victims had registered their complaints against exploiters as of August 21 after the government called for grievances against loan sharks, shared officer at Banke DAO, Ram Kumar Sonkar.

"We called the concerned sides and held discussion on the matter acting on the complaints", he said.

"They had invested less than the amount stipulated in the paper. The amplified amount ranges from one million to two million rupees while the invested amount was quite a low", according to the complaints lodged at DAO.

Sonkar further shared complaints on loan-sharking are still coming in. In this connection, a letter was sent to the Home Ministry to inform the issue, he added.

Some victims had even registered writ petition at courts against the loan sharks. The Ministry of Home Affairs had directed local administrations to receive complaints from victims noting the loan sharks had allegedly exploited the illiterate and financially weaker section.
