According to Maiti Nepal Nepalgunj Coordinator Keshav Raj Koirala, 499 women and children have been rescued in the last one year.
According to him, they were rescued from the Nepal-India border at Jamunahanaka with the help of the Nepal Police. During this period, 10 people have been rescued from India and Gulf countries. Of the 526 search and rescue requests made in a year, 213 have been successful. Koirala said that counseling was provided in 18 cases of domestic violence.
Maiti Nepal has set up an information and counseling center at the checkpoint to rescue women and children on risky journeys and have been sexually and sexually exploited in India and other countries, provide residential services, psychosocial counseling, legal aid and health services.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its establishment, Maiti Nepal has organized various public awareness programs in Nepalgunj. School level orientation against human trafficking and smuggling, public awareness posters, pamphlets along with street interactions have been put up at various places including the Nepal-India border at Jamunahana and information and awareness messages have been distributed and broadcasted.
