While the wildlife poaching in the Dadeldhura district has reduced, the production of agricultural products has also been declining. Farmers have been displaced from the agricultural profession as wild animals from nearby conservation areas started destroying agriculture. The locals of Amargadhi Municipality-1 and the district headquarters have been abandoning agricultural production as the number of wild animals has been increasing along with the conservation of Rishi Khola community forest in different wards of the district headquarters.
According to Dil Bahadur Tamrakar, a local, farmers of Ajayameru, Navdurga and Bhageshwor villages have started taking on other professions besides farming. He said that many farmers are being displaced from agriculture after the wild animals started destroying all the grains and vegetables planted in the fields.
Ramesh Damai of Ajaymeru-1 said that herds of animals including wild boars have started destroying crops. Chairman of Ajaymeru Village Municipality, Umesh Prasad Bhat, said that they are moving ahead with the plan to plant the crop by studying and identifying the situation where wild animals do not cause any damages. Ward Chairman of Amargadhi-6, Govinda Rajan Bhatta, said that the fence was placed after the wild animals started destroying farms.
