The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Wednesday reported 145 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 276,389.
Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley has reported 63 new cases of coronavirus infection — 53 in Kathmandu, eight in Lalitpur and two in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours. A total of 30 male and 33 females have been reported to be detected with the coronavirus infection in the valley.
As many as 90 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 272,187 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Wednesday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 98.5 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.
The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,020 with one more death reported in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 1,182 active cases in Nepal.
Of late, the number of infection is on the rise abroad while India today reported the detection of a new 'double mutant variant' of the novel coronavirus, hence the Armed Police Force of Nepal has adopted high state of alertness and set up health desks in the areas bordering with India.
More than 124.35 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 2,863,442 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 5:47 pm on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
