The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Tuesday reported 188 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 276,244.
Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley has reported 97 new cases of coronavirus infection — 76 in Kathmandu, 16 in Lalitpur and five in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours.
As many as 77 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 272,097 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Tuesday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 98.5 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.
The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has remained at 3,019 with no death reported in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 1,128 active cases in Nepal.
Of late, the number of infection is on the rise abroad and hence precaution should be adopted in the country, the statement issued by the ministry has stated.
More than 123.78 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 2,851,369 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 3:19 pm on Tuesday, March 23, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
