The 25th National Earthquake Safety Day's celebration programs slated for tomorrow has been put off in the wake of air crash in Pokhara today morning.
The Day is being observed on Magh 2 of the Lunar calendar every year in memory of the massive earthquake that took place in 1990 BS and thereby to spread awareness about the earthquake safety methods.
Since the government of Nepal decided to give a public holiday on Monday to mourn the fatal crash of the ATR-72 plane belonging to Yeti Airlines in Pokhara, a programme ought to take place in Kathmandu in attendance of the Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs among others has been postponed, informed Surya Narayan Shrestha, executive director of the National Society for Earthquake Technology (NSET).
Other events in connection to the Day such as photo exhibition, rally and awareness drive among others would be organized within a week, said NSET.
