The District Traffic Police Office, Kapilvastu, has taken action against 28,788 vehicles in a year. Police said that action has been taken against the vehicles violating traffic rules.
District Traffic Police Inspector Dilip Chhetri informed a total of 16,087 vehicles were impounded in the fiscal year 2076/77 BS. Revenue of Rs. 88.60 million was collected from that.
Most of the vehicles involved in the operation are trucks. Only 21 thousand 783 trucks have been impounded. In the second case, 3,288 motorcycles have been impounded. Similarly, 2,291 jeeps, 471 buses, 683 tractors and 272 autorickshaws were seized in the operation, said Inspector Chhetri.
According to Hari Bahadur GC, Deputy Inspector of Traffic Police, the revenue has been collected by taking action against the vehicles violating the traffic rules, carrying more passengers than the seats, not renewing documents, not using helmets and acting against the standards.
According to the police, 74 people were killed and 147 injured in 132 road accidents in the fiscal year 2077/78 BS.
