The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Monday reported 496 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 280,524.
Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 211 new cases of coronavirus infection — 159 in Kathmandu, 44 in Lalitpur and eight in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours. A total of 118 males and 93 females have been diagnosed with the virus.
As many as 138 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 274,165 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Monday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 97.7 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP. A total of 4,378 RT-PCR has been carried out in the last 24 hours in Nepal.
The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,053 with the report of 13 more deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 3,306 active cases in Nepal.
Earlier, the MoHP on Sunday had reported 303 new cases of coronavirus that had taken the nationwide tally to 280,028.
More than 136.08 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,076,093 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 3:00 pm, on Monday, April 12, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
