72 crocodiles were released in three rivers

The 72 crocodiles reared at the crocodile breeding center at Kasara in Chitwan National Park have been released into various rivers.

The 72 crocodiles reared at the crocodile breeding center at Kasara in Chitwan National Park have been released into various rivers. The crocodiles have been released in Rapti, Koshi and Narayani rivers. The park is preparing to release some more crocodiles in the Rapti river. According to Assistant Conservation Officer Saroj Mani Poudel, who is visiting the crocodile breeding center of the park, 12 crocodiles were released in the Rapti River near Kasara on November 6.

Two males and 10 females are left in the river. Twenty crocodiles including three males and 17 females were released in the Koshi river at Pathari on January 5. Two males and 18 females were released into the Narayani River from Divyapuri Ghat in Nawalparasi on January 13. He said that another 30 crocodiles would be released in the Rapti river in a few days. So far, 1,657 crocodiles have been released in various rivers, said Assistant Conservation Officer Poudel. This year, 258 baby crocodiles have been hatched from crocodile eggs collected from seven nests of Rapti and Narayani. In these rivers, the eggs are brought to the crocodile nest and brought to the breeding center. Crocodile nests have been monitored in both the rivers since March 31.

Chief Conservation Officer of the park Haribhadra Acharya said that most of the crocodiles raised in the center have been released in the Rapti River flowing through the park. So far, 867 crocodiles have been released in Rapti, 419 in Narayani, 110 in Babai, 115 in Saptakoshi, 41 in Karnali and 35 in Kaligandaki. There is only one adult male crocodile in the breeding center. There are 13 adult crocodiles in the center. Chief Conservation Officer Acharya stressed that conservation is not possible without the cooperation of all.
