Jayrani Tharu of Tribhuvan Army Club of Nepal Army has set a national record in women's long jump at the 9th National Games underway in Gandaki Province.
In the women's long jump held today at the Pokhara stadium in Kaski, Tharu won the gold medal with a record jump of 5.58 meters. Previously, the record of 5.47 meters was held by Nisha Chaudhary of Lumbini. Nisha missed out on the gold medal in today's games. Lumbini's Nisha jumped 5.49 meters and won the silver medal.
Likewise, Sheela Chaudhary of APF Club of Armed Police won the bronze medal with a jump of 5.31 meters.
This is Jayarani's third gold medal in the 9th National Games. Earlier, she has won gold medals in women's 400m hurdles and 100m hurdles.
