The Panchpokhari Thangpal Municipality has distributed various agricultural equipment in a special place with a 50 percent grant. Thirty-two units of mini-tillers, seven units of paddy and wheat threshers, five units of fodder choppers, five units of millet, and ten units of plastic tunnels have been distributed.
Village Municipality Chairperson Tashi Lama and Vice-Chairperson Sunita Adhikari distributed the materials under the coordination of Agriculture Development Committee Coordinator Kale Gole, said Nimraj Giri, Chief of Agriculture Branch. Lama said that the production has increased now as the village municipality has been distributing agricultural equipment regularly since 2074 BS. He said that if the farming system could be modernized and managed, the production would increase a lot. He informed that the production has increased at the rate of 2.5 percent. During the last five years, the municipality has provided 110 units of mini-tiller, 25 units of paddy-wheat thresher, 25 units of fodder chopper, 20 units of millet thresher, and 250 units of plastic tunnels. He informed that plastic ponds, small irrigation pipes, and other materials have been distributed for small irrigation.
During his tenure, more than 75 agricultural firms have been registered and have been conducting various subsidy programs from the village municipality to engage in business. According to him, after implementing the animal insurance program, their risk has been reduced. The technicians have also been insuring the house and paying the insurance amount for the damage to the livestock.
Although there are some policy issues in insuring agricultural crops, Lama said that he will take initiative to implement them immediately. According to him, the target is to reduce the barren land in the village to 30 percent during his tenure. Chairman Lama also expressed his commitment to address the problems of the farmers as much as possible and to play an important role in increasing the production and improving the income of the people of the municipality. He further expressed his commitment to use the subsidized materials to the farmers participating in the distribution work in a sustainable manner and to arrange rewards for the farmers who use the goods in a sustainable manner by monitoring one farmer after another.
