The Banke Division Forest Office in the first seven months of the current fiscal year rescued 30 wild animals from various circumstances.

According to Office Planning Officer Ganesh Khadka, some of them were injured, some were orphaned and some entered the human settlement mistakenly. The animals were rescued and released in safe areas.

As he said, 20 reptiles, most of the snake family: ten cobras, two Russell's Vipers, one krait, and one oriental rat snake were rescued. Likewise, six pythons were also rescued during this period and three were released in the Kamdi forest area, two in Daduwa-based Hajrat Community Forest, and one in the Banke National Park.

According to the Office, four crocodiles were picked up from different parts of Banke and three were released into the Rapti River and one into the Babai.

Of the rescued animals, a leopard cub died while an injured monkey was released in the Dhakeri forest area. Last fiscal year too, the Office rescued 30 animals in vulnerable situations and shifted them to safety.
