Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that literary centenary figure Satya Mohan Joshi was an important treasure in the field of language, art and literature.
Speaking at a program organized by Nepal Bhasa Manka Khala Yala at Mangalbazar in Lalitpur today he said Joshi was synonymous with simple life. Joshi's role in establishing cultural relations between Nepal and China is also important.
On the occasion, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Jeevanram Shrestha said that a scholar like Joshi is rarely born in the world. His multifaceted personality, expertise and his contribution to the country's literature and culture are unparalleled and unforgettable, Minister Shrestha said.
Mayor of Lalitpur Chiribabu Maharjan said that Asia has lost an important personality in the demise of Joshi.
Anuraj Joshi, son of Satya Mohan Joshi, said that the state has given special honor to his father by publishing three types of currency and postal stamps in honor of his father.
President of Nepal Bhasha Manka Khala Yala, Hirakaji Maharjan shared that the Satya Mohan Joshi Language Literary Award has been established with the aim of immortalizing the national personality of Satya Mohan Joshi. Maharjan said that an award fund of Rs 51,000 has been established to support the development of language and literature.
