Snowfall is expected from Friday due to the cold 'westerly winds'.
According to the Department of Meteorology, there will be partial to moderate clouds covering Far-Western, Karnali, Lumbini and Gandaki provinces as the clouds move eastward through the Far-Western region from Friday due to the western low-pressure system coming along with the westerly winds. There is a possibility of light snowfall in some places in the high hills and mountains of the far west, Karnali and Gandaki.
Light rain is expected in some parts of the far west. Due to the system, the temperature is likely to drop further in the coming days, the department said. The department has urged to take necessary safety and precaution to avoid the effects of cold and snowfall as the weather system may affect the daily life of the people including mountaineering and air transport.
According to the latest report of the Weather Forecast Division, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley today is less than 3.0 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is 17.5 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Jumla is minus 5.7 degrees Celsius and the maximum in Bhairahawa is 28.4 degrees Celsius.
