Rajni Thapa of Nepali Congress has taken the lead in the Tokha municipality of Kathmandu.
During the counting of 21,072 votes, Thapa of the Nepali Congress took the lead with 8,430 votes. Her rival CPN-UML candidate Prakash Adhikari got 8,226 votes, Tokha Election Officer Savita Sharma informed.
Similarly, Nepali Congress candidate Murari Tamang has taken the lead in the Deputy Chief. While Tamang got 8,411 votes, his rival Gyanmaya Dangol got 7,663 votes.
Counting of votes in eight wards of Tokha has been completed so far. Among them, Ramesh Kumar Lamichhane of Nepali Congress has won in Ward No. 1, Dharmendra Shrestha of CPN-UML in Ward No. 2, Ramesh Dangol of UML in Ward No. 3, Dharmendra Shrestha of UML in Ward No. 4 and Madan Gurung of UML in Ward No. 5.
Similarly, Shanta Khanal of Nepali Congress has won in Ward No. 6, Narottam Rana of UML in Ward No. 7 and Ramesh Khatri of UML in Ward No. 8. Counting of votes in Ward Nos. 9, 10 and 11 is underway in Tokha. A total of 34,676 voters cast their ballots in Tokha and 25,560 votes were cast, said Election Officer Sharma.
