Balendra Shah and Sunita Dangol are leading in the post of chief and deputy chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan City respectively. According to the results so far, Shah, who has fielded an independent candidate for the post of the chief, has maintained his lead with 9,499 votes.
CPN-UML's Dangol is leading with nine thousand 815 votes.
Similarly, Keshav Sthapit of the CPN-UML polled 5,196 votes and Sirjana Singh of the Nepali Congress polled 4,540 votes, said Prem Kumar Shrestha, Chief Election Officer's Office, Kathmandu.
Rameshwar Shrestha of the CPN (Unified Socialist) has polled 2,784 votes in the election. At present, the counting of votes is being carried out from six places in the National Assembly Hall at Pradarshani Marg. Counting of votes in wards 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 30, 31, and 32 is underway.
The results of wards 1 and 2 have already been made public. According to the results, UML candidate Bharat Lal Shrestha has won in ward 1 and Rajendra Kumar Shrestha has won in ward 2 on behalf of UML. At present, 25,094 votes have been cast in the party. In which 882 votes have been cast. According to the commission, out of the total 3242 voters in the party, only 63.49 percent have cast their votes.
