Preparations have been made to operate two suspension bridges constructed on the Mahakali River under rope way Displacement. Preparations have been made to operate the suspension bridge immediately after the local level election in Nepal.
Three months after the construction of the bridge, preparations have been made to operate Malghatta Suspension Bridge in Beas Gaonpalika-4 and Baku Suspension Bridge in Malikarjun Gaonpalika-6 Banku. The Badugaun Bridge of Ward No. 6 has also been constructed.
Chief District Officer Dir Gharaj Upadhyaya said that the suspension bridge division under the Department of Infrastructure Development and Agriculture Roads has written to the District Administration Office for regular operation of the suspension bridge. "We have received a letter regarding the completion of the bridge," he said. "After the election, we will move ahead with the homework for the regular operation of the bridge." After the meeting, Prajia Upadhyaya told reporters that the officials of both the countries had agreed for the regular operation of the bridge.
Despite the construction of the suspension bridge, the locals have to cross the Mahakali with the help of ropeway. Narendra Singh Dhami of Vyans Gaonpalika-2 said that the locals have to use the ropeway at their own risk as the bridge has not been regular for a long time.
The suspension bridge division had constructed suspension bridges at four places simultaneously to replace the twins and tubes on the Mahakali river. The bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs. 27.3 million in Malghatte and Mal and at a cost of Rs. 255.64 million in Baku and Badugaun.
SDM of Dharchula Nandan Kumar said that there was no problem from India for the operation of the constructed bridge. "As soon as we receive the official letter from Nepal, we are ready for the regular operation of the bridge," he said. After the regular operation of the bridge, the presence of security personnel is mandatory. "If the bridge is brought into operation soon, the locals will be able to move around regularly," said Dan Singh Karki, a resident of Mal.
Now the river is small, now it is raining. The surface of the river is also increasing day by day. Their demand was to operate the suspension bridges constructed for this purpose.
During Oli's tenure as the Prime Minister of KP, the district has demanded construction of suspension bridges at 11 places for the ropeway Displacement Program in Darchula.
