Dang faces severe landslide damages

According to the National Emergency Operation Center, around 5,000 houses were damaged in all 10 municipalities of Dang due to floods and landslides after incessant rains.

After continuous rains, the number of houses that have been completely damaged due to floods, landslides is 1,566, while the number of houses that have been partially damaged is 3,178. Among the 10 local levels of Dang, four municipalities of Deukhuri suffered the most damage.

According to Khilat Giri, the head of the district emergency operation center, the most physical damage has been done in Rajpur Rural Municipality. 325 houses in Rajpur, 300 in Banglachuli Rural Municipality, 265 in Lamhi Municipality, 254 in Garhwa Rural Municipality and 120 in Rapti Rural Municipality have been damaged by the floods.

Similarly, 80 houses in Ghorahi sub-metropolitan city, seven in Tulsipur sub-metropolitan city, 70 in Babai rural municipality, 44 in Shantinagar rural municipality and 30 in Dangisharan rural municipality have been displaced.

According to the District Emergency Operations Center Dang, 964 houses were completely damaged in the four municipalities of Deukhuri, Lamhi Municipality, Rapti Rural Municipality, Rajpur Rural Municipality and Garhwa Rural Municipality.

Lamhi municipality has the highest number of damaged houses. According to Giri, 1,196 houses in Lamhi Municipality, 852 in Garhwa Rural Municipality, 490 in Rapti Rural Municipality, 200 in Banglachuli Rural Municipality and 125 in Rajpur Rural Municipality have been partially damaged.

Similarly, 120 houses in Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan Municipality, 80 in Babai Rural Municipality, 56 in Shantinagar Rural Municipality, 40 in Dangisharan Rural Municipality and 19 in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan Municipality have been partially damaged, according to the District Emergency Operation Center.

According to District Police Office Dang, nine people lost their lives in the flood and landslides. According to Superintendent of Police Wali, the highest number of deaths was four from Banglachuli, three from Ghorahi sub-metropolitan city and one each from Rapti and Babai Rural Municipality.

District Disaster Management Committee Coordinator and Chief District Officer Hiralal Regmi said that according to the decision of the Government of Nepal, relief will be provided.
