Police have arrested Nil Bahadur Tamang, 33, of Bethanchowk Village Municipality-4, who has been absconding for the past nine years. Nil Bahadur is absconding after being involved in the murder of 18-year-old Angel Tamang of Chalalganeshthan VDC-2 nine years ago, according to police.
He was arrested while hiding in Dudhpati of Bhaktapur on Friday and was sent to Dhulikhel District Court for the execution of the verdict, said Hari Khatiwada, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office. According to him, Angel was killed by the defendants with a sharp weapon during a clash between two villagers during a cultural program at the local Ganesh Lower Secondary School on October 25, 2008.
Defendant Nil Bahadur was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment by the court on July 30, 2008. Police had earlier arrested Tamang, a 25-year-old grandson of Foude of Bethanchowk Gaonpalika-4, who was involved in the murder of Angel on Tuesday. He was also sentenced to 20 years in prison by the district court on the same day, police said.
