Nepal National Federation of Transport Entrepreneurs has demanded adjustment of public transport fares. The federation held a press conference here today and demanded that the government adjust the fare as soon as possible, saying that the government has neglected the fare adjustment despite the huge increase in fuel prices.
According to the federation, the transport businessmen have been forced to demand increase in fares after the government increased the prices of petroleum products. FNCCI President Yogendra Nath Karmacharya protested against the recent increase in fuel prices and said that the federation would make the fare adjustment on the basis of scientific fare procedure if there is no fare adjustment by March 21 next year. He said, “The price of petroleum products went up again three days after the hike in 2078 BS. It has gone up seven times since then but the rent has not been adjusted. We have been urging the government not to increase the vehicle fare but to increase the price, but no hearing has been held. ”
President of the Nepal Truck Federation Rajendra Shrestha stressed that the entrepreneurs should adjust the fares on the basis of scientific procedures if the government and concerned bodies do not pay attention to the freight adjustment. Nawaraj Ghimire, senior vice-president of the Nepal Transport Independent Transport Workers' Association, said that the government collects tax from entrepreneurs at Rs 58 per liter but does not care about it.
As the federation has not implemented scientific fare adjustment method in Bagmati Pradesh, the federal government has made impractical decision by adjusting the fare less than the adjusted fare.
