The industrialists and businessmen here have demanded the federal government to repair the dilapidated Mirgunj bridge immediately. Stating that there is a problem in the movement of goods vehicles coming to Biratnagar from India, they have demanded the government.
As the condition of the bridge is dilapidated, freight vehicles entering Nepal through the Bhantabari checkpoint of Sunsari are entering Nepal.
Navin Rijal, president of the Morang Trade Association, said that the bridge, which has been deteriorating for the past three months, is being constructed slowly. He inspected the dilapidated Mirgunj Bridge of India connecting Biratnagar and asked the concerned bodies to take initiative for the immediate solution of the problems created in the industrial and commercial sector of the Morang-Sunsari Economic Corridor.
Chairman Rijal asked the Ministry of External Affairs to allow the Indian administration to allow up to 30 tons of cargo traffic on the Araria-Kursakanta-Jogbani road in India until the bridge is under construction. He requested the Indian side to take immediate initiative for the same.
