The blacktopping of Diktel-Khanidanda-Ahale road – the shortest route connecting the eastern Tarai districts – is not likely to be completed within the stipulated time.
The blacktopping of Diktel-Ahale road (10.974-km) that was initiated through the investment of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has only witnessed 48 per cent physical progress even though the time to complete the project has been exceeded.
The deadline was extended to May 12 when the contractor company Yakthunghang/Sap/Siruwa JV failed to complete the task of blacktopping the road on the initial deadline of March 20 last year.
Consultant Engineer, Chanchal Kumar Jha, said that the physical progress of the project was 48 per cent so far and financial progress was 47.76 per cent.
In the fiscal year 2077/78, the financial progress of the road project was 14.23 per cent and physical progress 9.14 per cent, Jha informed.
The NRA had initiated the blacktopping of the road from Diktel to Gaighat of Udayapur via Khanidanda airport at an investment of over Rs 210 million.
