A drinking water project is to be constructed in Sisne village municipality-5 of Rukum (East) with a budget of Rs 90 million from Lumbini state government.
Water is being brought from the source of Thaknakhola. Five tanks with a capacity of 75,000 liters will be constructed in the drinking water project. The project will supply additional drinking water to Rumalbara, Bahunthana and Takura of Ward No. 5. The process of construction of drinking water project has been started to provide facility to about 500 households in the ward, said Ward Chairman BK.
As it is a five year plan, this drinking water project will be completed gradually. In the current Fiscal Year 2021/22, work of Rs. 15 million will be done. The drinking water project is being constructed through the Consumers Committee. Even now, drinking water is available in all the settlements of Ward No. 5. This drinking water project is about to be constructed as more will be required.
Ward Chairman BK said that work is being done as per the target of providing easy access to safe drinking water to all the households in the ward. At present, drinking water is being supplied to the settlements of Ward No. 5 by bringing water from three sources - Tharakhola, Ghangarchaur and Rasuchahara. It is said that the construction work of Thaknakhola Drinking Water Project has been started from now as more water will be needed due to population growth and settlement development.
