An excavator along with its driver has been buried in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-4 Dagnam today. According to the District Police Office, the driver and excavator were buried during the road construction of the 48.5 MW Upper Rahughat Hydropower Project under construction by Tudi Power Company.
Police Inspector Birendra Raj Gurung informed that Bhim Bahadur Khatri, 27, of Raghuganga-2 was buried in the landslide. "We are searching for the driver and the excavator that were buried with the help of another excavator," he said. Police Inspector Gurung, security personnel, project staff, laborers, and locals are searching for the buried excavator and its driver.
Similarly, 77-year-old Gore Thapa of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-7 has been found dead. Thapa, who was found dead in Ratnegaira of Takam on Sunday evening, has been brought to Beni Hospital for autopsy. A team of Inspector Santosh Poudel of Area Police Office Darbang has reached Takam this morning for investigation. Thapa, who was walking on the side of the road, crossed the road in the evening.
Eyewitnesses have speculated that Thapa, who was walking till the vehicle arrived, may have collided with the vehicle after crossing the front. Police Inspector Poudel, who reached the spot, said that an investigation has been started to identify the cause of death based on CCTV footage, autopsy report, and eyewitness accounts.
