BAJURA: Bajura was struck by a 5.2 magnitude earthquake early Saturday morning.
The tremor hit Gotri in Jagannath Rural Municipality, situated in the northeastern region of Bajura.
Dr. Lokbijay Adhikari, senior seismologist at the National Seismology and Research Center in Lainchaur, confirmed that the earthquake occurred at 4:14 a.m. on Saturday.
Following the earthquake, locals in the district headquarters, Martadi, rushed out of their homes in panic.
Residents are still fearful of potential aftershocks. It is not yet confirmed whether the earthquake caused any damage.
Seismologist Adhikari stated that earthquakes with a magnitude above 5 on the Richter scale are considered moderate.
Earlier this week, a 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck Manang, on Thursday.
Additionally, two consecutive earthquakes occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday with their epicenter in Bajhang.
