A team of government officials and experts has arrived in Doti district for a study of the 750 megawatts West Seti Hydropower Project. The project is being constructed in Dhungad and Talara areas in Doti and Baitadi districts. Mayor of Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality Manju Malasi said that the government team monitored the Talkot area of Shikhar Municipality where the powerhouse of the project is supposed to be developed. She said that the three-member team is now scheduled to visit the dam site.
The government team arrived here for a fresh study to advance the project development. National Planning Commission Vice Chairman Dr Bishwo Poudel, CEO of Investment Board of Nepal Shushil Bhatta, and Energy Secretary Devendra Karki are leading the study. Coordinator of District Coordinator Committee Ram Bahadur Air said that a new ray of hope emerged on the project development after the visit of the project from the high-level team. The issue of the West Seti Hydropower Project is talked about in the country since 1981.
