The Federation of Construction Entrepreneurs of Nepal (FCEN) has objected to the action taken against the construction businessman in the incident where a one-horned rhinoceros died in Chitwan after falling into a drain dug during the road expansion.
It is mentioned in the statement issued by the federation that after the death of the one-horned rhinoceros, serious action has been taken by the concerned body against the construction businessmen. The federation has stated that no action has been taken against the construction company Indosun JV for violating the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act.
Roshan Dahal, general secretary of the federation, said that the tragic death of a rhinoceros during natural movement in the construction area of the project under the Road Division Office, Bharatpur has been distorted. "The federation is of the view that issuing arrest warrants in the name of investigation against the prevailing law by distorting the facts, discouraging the entrepreneurs working day and night in the construction of physical infrastructure and discouraging the construction sector from moving forward despite various obstacles."
After the construction of the concrete drain at the construction site, it is technically required to keep it open for a few days to be fully set up. The federation has objected to the humiliation of the businessman.
Regarding the incident, the federation has demanded to stop the arrest of Sahadev Khadka, a representative of construction company Indo-Sagun JV, in the name of investigation. The federation has demanded the government of Nepal and the concerned bodies not to blame the construction businessmen for such incidents that will happen naturally in the future.
The federation is also saddened by the death of the world's rarest rhino. The federation has demanded that an impartial and independent investigation committee be formed with the involvement of federation representatives and the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport in the investigation committee formed by the Ministry of Forests to investigate the incident and make the facts public without any bias.
