Finance Minister Sharma presents budget in Parliament

Finance Minister Janardan Sharma presented in the joint sitting of both the houses today the annual budget for the Fiscal Year 2022/23. In the announcement, it was mentioned that 800,000 people will be lifted out of absolute poverty annually.

Similarly, imports are targeted to be reduced by 20 percent this Fiscal year. The report says the budget this year will be the national year of agricultural production campaign. Similarly, Rs. 15 billion has been allocated for the purchase of chemical fertilizers.

The budget states that the minimum price of farmers' produce will be fixed, farmer pension scheme will be started, 100 community food warehouses will be opened across the country, cold storage will be established in all seven states and subsidies will be provided to sugarcane farmers.

It has been stated that indigenous products should be used in government offices, herbal processing centers should be opened at the state level and cotton and rubber cultivation should be encouraged.

An industrial zone will be set up in Shaktikhor, Chitwan and necessary rules will be formulated for Nepali construction businessmen to conduct construction business abroad.

A new program will be started from farm to factory and distribution of LP gas will be reviewed as well.

The program will be conducted next year with a plan to attract more tourists. Private sector companies related to tourism, including hotels affected by covid, will be given exemption in-licensing and renewal fees.

All local levels will be freed from child labor. Similarly, industries consuming more than Rs 100 million will be given a 15 percent discount.

In the budget, monthly expenses have been provided to the kidney patients and free kidney transplant has been arranged. Similarly, blood banks will be established in all the states.

Loans will be given to the youths returning from abroad at concessional interest rates. On a budget

Equal pay for equal work is also provided. Food identity cards will be provided to people with low income. Food will be provided at a concessional price on the basis of identity cards.

A route will be constructed to complete the journey from Kathmandu to Chitwan in one hour. Arrangements have been made to provide free sign language and Braille textbooks. Housing will be constructed for the women victims of violence. Kirtipur Cricket Stadium will be constructed to accommodate night games.
