Today's meeting of the House of Representatives has formed a committee to study the impeachment motion registered against Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana.
The committee consists of Ekwal Mian, Kalyani Kumari Khadka, Krishna Bhakta Pokhrel, Pramod Sah, Min Bahadur Bishwakarma, Yashoda Subedi (Gurung), Ram Bahadur Bista, Rekha Sharma, Lal Babu Pandit, Bishnu Prasad Poudel and Dr Shiva Maya Tumwahamphe. The main opposition party CPN (UML), which has been protesting in the parliament to fulfill its demands, has nominated its name for the committee.
An 11-member recommendation committee has been formed to study the proposal and submit a report within three months.
The process of formation of the committee has been started in accordance with Article 101 (3) and (4) of the Constitution of Nepal and Rule 162 of the Rules of the House of Representatives, 2075 BS. The proposal was registered against Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana on March 20, raising questions about efficiency and conduct.
In today's meeting, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dilendra Prasad Badu presented the 31st Annual Report (FY 2077-078) of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority on behalf of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
In today's meeting, MP Sapkota informed that CPN (UML) MP Mohan Baniya has been suspended as per the constitution as he was detained during the investigation into the rape case at the District Police Office, Banke. The next meeting of the assembly will be held on Sunday, March 12 at 1 pm.
