Government vehicles operating on public holidays have been taken under control. The District Police Office, Syangja, has taken control of five vehicles on Saturday in the course of implementing the directive of the Ministry of Home Affairs that no one is to operate public vehicles on public holidays.
According to District Police Office Inspector Padma Raj Thapa, two motorcycles belonging to Biruwa Municipality, one motorcycle belonging to the Education Office, a four-wheeled vehicle belonging to Galyang Municipality and another four-wheeled vehicle belonging to Parbat Paiyu Village Municipality have been taken under control.
He said that government vehicles would be taken under control if found operating without permission on public holidays. He informed that the government vehicles seized on Saturday will be returned only on Monday after completing the necessary procedures as Sunday is also a public holiday. As per the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Government of Nepal, the decision to grant two days public holiday on Saturday and Sunday has been implemented since May 26, 2022.
